Dog photo on wikki

I had some trouble loading an image so I created a page with an attachment instead. Sorry.

Pet added to Wikki

Unfortunately I created separate page. But picture is still there!

Web 2.0

Okay, I have read about 2.0. Clearly we have a long way to travel in terms of library services and systems - thank you for forcing me to see the level of customisation people are used to in creating their "normal" information environment. Clearly the environment offered by library systems are absolutely not designed for this level of customisation. Customisation needs a LOT of user input and very little user skill. You pick from "canned" choices so those choices have to be pretty "gee whiz" to actually make you want to do it. Intersting to see if they's download encore widget or whether we should see if we can incorporate encore widget into the super search widgets already available (for amazon, wikkipedia etc on one button). Probably we need to do both.

Test to add to your blog from igoogle home page.

Okay this gadget works and is good.
The map is now defaulting to St Albans and I have deleted the weather information as it appears to be a "bad" gadget and I have downloaded an appropriate Australian one.

Adding gadgets to igoogle home page and comments

Really easy to add to your homepage but always difficult to get it to do exactly what you want. I can't see how to set the example google map search to St Albans. Always defaults back to the sample search 'hotels in NY'. Also I notice for Australian maps there is no traffic option.

Similarly I would like the petrol tracker to stay on a setting I want but you have to keep entering same location.

It would be good to set the default displays to what you want. Probably something that can be done but not known to me! Similarly the weather map doesn't seem to want to stay on my default setting. So many gadgets, so much misdirected information.

Google Book Search; Google Scholar

Yes, I see it now, google is taking over the world. I do like google scholar as it does allow more restrictive searching although now that I've done Jenny's google smart training I have sort of ditched google scholar and use google with some restrictions - although admittedly finding patterns for finger puppets is probably not that scholarly!!

Google books I find aren't particularly well reproduced. Its good to know that with EBL the clients do get the advantage of good screen presentation as well as searching. Google books can be very unfriendly.

Its pretty much like notepad.

Has the basic notepad functionality with some word-like features.

Probably as many as you'd need for straight forward documents.
