At last something I know about.
I think google maps are fantastic. My daughter has been using them to check out real estate in her house hunt. It is amazing that looking at my street in Brunswick I can quite clearly identify my car and my daughter's car parked out the front of the house (she must have been visiting on the day the google photographer came!).
For bushwalking google maps allow you to check out the terrain. It is not as sharp as it is for metropolitan areas but still allows you to see broad geographic landmarks. My favorite was when we were going to bathurst harbour in Tasmania we could quite clearly see the river we were going to paddle on and the other boats also in the area.
Fantastic.
